I don’t know what to tell you about him.
For starters, there’s that thing with eighteen years.
Collecting records, he outshone his peers –
despite some records being rather grim.
By choosing him, I went out on a limb,
as sexting, pills and fraud have left their smears.
He played big games and had his share of cheers.
Got MVP, but no Olympic Hymn.
He first retired, aged just thirty-eight.
Then -nine. Then forty. -one. A little late?
Apart from that, I’ve nothing more to share.
So if you want to solve, dear reader, you’ve
just got my one and last and desperate move:
there’s something ‘bout Hail Mary in the air.
